This map can be considered a propaganda map because it offers a
very biased and opinionated view of the area of focus (in this case, the world
according to the map designer’s idea of Ronald Reagan’s or a Republican’s
perspective). Instead of emphasis
on an accurate representation of reality, the emphasis is on humor and
provocation. Colors symbolize political and ideological directions, and the
countries are not to scale – the USA and the (former) USSR are huge compared to
the other world countries. These
are just a few elements that you can find in this propaganda map.
